About Petaling Jaya
Petaling Jaya or PJ, came into existence in 1952 as a satellite city of Kuala Lumpur. Petaling Jaya area is approximately 97.2 km2, making it the fastest growing city in Selangor. Petaling Jaya is located in the Petaling district, which is the largest and most advanced in the state of Selangor, Malaysia.
On 20 June 2006, Petaling Jaya was upgraded into a city and no longer as a satellite city of Kuala Lumpur. Petaling Jaya City Council became the local authority responsible for administering the Petaling Jaya.
Petaling Jaya populations of 700,000 people are of various races, namely Malay, Chinese, Indian and other races living in prosperity and harmony. Two modes of transport connecting Petaling Jaya with other destinations are air and land transportation. Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport is the nearest airport. In addition, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang can also be an option.
Road networks such as the Federal Highway, New Pantai Expressway, Damansara-Puchong Express way and other selected land transportation are route options for Petaling Jaya.
Petaling Jaya International Fair 2014 – Folklore Festival
Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) in collaboration with the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF) is organizing the PJ International Fair 2014 Folklore Festival in conjunction with the 8th anniversary.
This International Arts Festival involves the participation of cultural groups from within and outside countries such as Indonesia, India, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Iran, Senegal, Korea, Thailand, Kenya, Bangladesh, Ghana, Japan and Nigeria and do not miss local culture.
PJ International Fair 2014 themed Folk Art is a continuation of the first edition in 2013, known as PJ International Fair with the theme Sustainable Lifestyle Green Living that was held on 21 and 22 December 2013.
PJ International Fair 2014 Folklore Festival will feature exciting events presented by the countries that participated which features four main segments of cultural performances, sports, traditional cooking demonstration, exhibition and sale of handicrafts.
This Festival, among others, aims to promote the city of Petaling Jaya, Selangor and Malaysia in general as an international destination globally thus via the cultural harmony, features the best environment and its activities.
